COAST MOUNTAIN HYDRO TRADES BURSARY

FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE McLYMONT CREEK SCHOLARSHIP

Two Full Ride Bursaries for Tahltans Interested in the Trades

  • CMH’s goal with this bursary is to award 2 Tahltan Member SkilledTradesBC registered apprentices or foundation program students in mining and/or hydroelectricity related trade programs the amount of $10,000 each annually.  Note: sponsorship is continuous for the duration of their program up to a maximum of 4 years – academic progress dependant.

  • Applicants must be a registered member of the Tahltan Nation, a SkillsTradesBC registered apprentice enrolled in an accredited post secondary institution, or attending a foundation program in an accredited BC, Alberta, or Yukon Territory institution for a mining and/or hydroelectricity related trade.

ELIGIBILITY

  • A registered member of the Tahltan Nation.

  • 18+ (some students, depending on birthday, could be 17 and will be considered).

  • SkilledTradesBC registered apprentice in a mining and/or hydroelectricity related trade enrolled in an accredited BC, Alberta or Yukon Territory post secondary institution, or attending a mining and/or hydroelectricity related foundation program at an accredited BC, Alberta or Yukon Territory post secondary institution.

COAST MOUNTAIN HYDRO DOUGLAS H. BROWN BURSARY

FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE VOLCANO CREEK SCHOLARSHIP

Multiple Douglas H. Brown Bursaries for the following categories:

  • CMH is looking to sponsor Tahltans who are in a training or academic program to develop their skills to serve Iskut, Dease Lake and/or Telegraph Creek in any capacity.

    CMH is also looking to sponsor Tahltans who are enrolled in any accredited BC, Alberta, or Yukon Territory post-secondary institution or training provider. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • A registered member of the Tahltan Nation.

  • Enrolled in any accredited post secondary course or program, any skill development program that concludes with a certification, diploma or degree.

How to Apply for either Scholarship

  • A current resume. 

  • A letter of intent describing career and educational goals, cultural activities, community involvement, academic, and personal achievements.

  • Most recent transcripts (your most recent set of marks; for example, 2023 Fall term marks).

  • Proof of current registration. For example, a letter of acceptance that has your name, the education institution, and the most recent term. Importantly: it must be for the 2023 Fall term or 2024 Winter term.

  • Program costs, budget, and funding sources. Scoring is partially based upon whether you show a significant need for funds.
